CORPORATE PHILOSOPHY
Values like honesty, transparency, quality, service, value-for-funds and satisfaction have, over our existence, formed the bases of our corporate decisions; in fact, we place this at the top of our priorities and according to the Executive Director, “I must say, they [the values] have brought us this far – even under tough socio-cultural realities”.
We believe that by focusing on how you can solve a problem without taking advantage of the situation, you can achieve a lot more both in volunteering and in life. At GMI, we all feel self-fulfilled because we understand that we are servants of humanity.
We are able to live up to this policy as we always ensure that we employ professional consultants, produce feasible designs, use quality materials and uphold sound professional ethics and conducts in implementing our projects and delivering services. Further, we are a service-conscious-client-oriented organisation that has very high regards for corporate relationship and strongly believes in the mutual benefits of all parties involved in our projects.
TO ACHIEVE THESE
GMI evolved a working model that promotes public awareness and education through collection and dissemination of useful information associated with this recent upsurge in concern for the environment. And assist people, especially the local communities in conservation of scarce biodiversity, natural resources, habitat and fragile ecosystem, raising awareness of the value of Nigerian ecosystem and promoting the involvement of all sectors of the society and government in its management.
Also GMI has a special eco programs for youths and students in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions tagged ‘Going Green’. This program aims at promoting environmental awareness and education among the young generation so as to inculcate environmental ethics and values in their mind. Furthermore, “the planting for Peace” project made its debut in public primary and secondary schools in Kaduna South in July, 2011 at Government Day Secondary School, Angwan Maichibi, Television, Sabon Tasha. Ten Thousand Trees (Run For Trees) for 30 Schools in collaborations with Ogun State Ministry of Forestry, Abeokuta. “Plant for The Environment” at federal Government Boys College, Apo, Abuja , in Collaboration with Parks and Recreation Department of the FCT.
Hello world!
We are committed to providing a quality service in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our funders, employees, volunteers, visitors, inspectors, external project supervisors and minimising our potential impact on the environment. We operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislations and strive to use pollution prevention mechanism and environmental best practices in all we do.
Key Personnel
GMI has a small but highly efficient work team. We are also able to hire and recruit more labour when we have projects that may require more desk staff. Currently, we have eight (8) full-time team mates and hope to increase that to 12 by the end of 2020. But more importantly, GMI is a volunteers-driven initiative. We employ youths of the areas and other capable hands within the community to assist us in projects. Structurally, GMI has access to a network of over 50 young professionals who are working as an alliance to practice in their field. We are able to call on members of the alliance to boost capacity on projects that may require more of that. The following are current members of the Green Mobilization Initiative’s team.
